Last Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at the Brown Chapel the Department of Music hosted the Jazz Group concert.

The ensemble consists of Lecturers of Music Don Kason on trumpet and Len Thomas on keyboards, as well as members Dave Jacobs on bass, Ken Joseph on guitar, Bill Armstrong on drums, Steve Johnson on saxophone, and Jennifer Blood as the singer.

The group performed songs, such as "Lady Bird" by Tadd Dameron and "Killer Joe" by Benny Golson.

Kason, who teaches Jazz Theory and the Student Jazz Ensemble with Instructor of Music David Turrill, founded the group at Muskingum.

"Been here for about eleven years now," Kason said.

The group was satisfied with the performance.

"We were happy with the turnout," said Johnson. "We usually draw in large crowds. The crowd was pretty receptive."

The next time the Muskingum University Faculty and Friends Jazz Ensemble will be playing will be on Feb.18, 2012.
