Students often wonder what there is to do on the Muskingum College campus. Luckily, the student-run program board, CenterBoard, holds activities every weekend.

CenterBoard is in charge of weekend events and Muskiepalooza.

Artists, such as musicians and comedians, are brought to campus to provide students something to do on the weekends.

CenterBoard also holds games nights, like euchre or “spoons” tournaments, not to mention the movie nights and various other events held every so often.

“I think our main purpose is to get people to stay away from drinking,” said junior and President of CenterBoard Alison Adams.

To Adams, the most important thing Centerboard does is provide a sense of community, because Muskingum is a home for students for four years.

“It’s really important to get involved on campus and meet new people,” said Adams. “I think CenterBoard really helps in doing that.”

One of the co-chairs, first-year Travis Nevels, got involved with CenterBoard by learning about it from different people.

“I joined and ran for co-chair and got it,” said Nevels. “Now, I make flyers for events that I’m assigned to and hang them up around campus.”

Being on CenterBoard means getting a chance to meet the artists, introduce them at events and take them out to dinner.

“I also attend my assigned events and help set up and tare down, and sometimes introduce the artist if there is one,” said Nevels.

CenterBoard members also get to go to national conferences, where they get to see artists perform and meet them, learn how to advertise for events properly and decide on what acts they will bring to Muskingum’s campus the next semester.

“One of the biggest events CenterBoard is in charge of it Muskiepalooza, and I can’t say much, but this year’s theme is ‘Never Grow Up,’ and its going to be really fun,” said Adams.

Muskiepalooza will be held on April 18. Anyone who is interested in helping can just show up at the CenterBoard meetings.
