Two peanuts were walking down the road, when one was “assaulted.”
Get it? A salted?

Okay, so maybe that is a really stupid joke, one that has been told so many times over the years.

But I still find it to be one of my favorite stupid jokes.

Why? Well, I have more of a personal tie to the joke than most people.

My dad and I share the love of telling stupid jokes to each other - I mean really dumb ones that just make you look at each other and laugh hysterically because the joke was so stupid that it really shouldn’t be a joke.

I remember my dad coming home from work one evening and telling me this assortment of, what we call, “peanut” jokes.

And all I remember after that is laughing and having a really fun time.

My dad and I always had that type of bond, a fun type of bond where we are always left laughing about what the other said.

Whether it’s teasing and picking on each other or just telling each other random jokes that we’ve heard throughout the day, I know that, even though many people do not share my love and understanding for dumb jokes, I know my dad understands and that means the world to me.

The times, they are a changin’and God knows I am too. But I know one thing won’t change, and that is my relationship with my dad.

I may far away from home finishing up my degree, but I know that all I have to do is pick up the phone and call my dad.

And I know he’ll be there, ready to make me laugh and smile, and the old times will return to me again, even if it is only temporary.

So, Dad, wanna hear a peanut joke? How do you catch an elephant?
Well, you hide in the grass and make a sound like a peanut!

Happy Birthday, Dad! I love you. Thanks for being such a wonderfully amazing father - and friend.
