To be eligible to vote in the elections this fall you must be a U.S. citizen of at least 18 years old and be registered to vote at least 30 consecutive days prior to the election. This means that, for the fall 2011 elections, the registration deadline is Oct. 11. Muskingum University students may vote in New Concord by using their school address and registering with the Muskingum County Board of Elections. If students register to vote in their school community, they cannot also vote absentee in their hometown. To find a voter registration form, visit the Muskingum County Board of Elections website, http://boe.muskingumcounty.org/, and locate the ‘Voter Information' tab on the right side. The ‘How Do I Register to Vote?' section will lead you to more information and a downloadable voter registration form. Included on that page is a list of offices at which you can deliver your form, as well as mailing registration instructions. Another resource for students is Rock the Vote, http://www.rockthevote.org/, which helps empower young people to vote. Rock the Vote's website includes an online voter registration form that can be filled out online and printed off after completion for easy mailing or delivery.
