Intramural Volleyball at Muskingum is one of the most largely student involved intramural sports on campus.
Third-year Ebony Taylor is the Intramural Assistant for all of the Intramural sports that take place throughout the year.
"There have been a lot of competitive games so far this year" said Taylor. "The girl's side has had a lot of competitive games and the guys have just been dominated by the professors, the older guys that play."
Jessie Little is a sophomore here at Muskingum, she plays softball and works by refereeing some of the intramural games.
"You can tell that some of the teams are out here to just have a good time and have fun, but the other teams take it seriously" said Little. "Usually their record will show it."
The games are usually about 45 minutes long and the teams play best out of three with a guarantee of three games being played no matter what.
"It's funny to watch some of the teams out there and you try not to laugh but it's just too much at times" said Little. "But the good thing about it is that you see the students out there having fun, and usually none of the games ever get out of hand."
Sophomore Aaron Perkins runs track for Muskingum and is part of an intramural volleyball team also.
"Me and couple of my friends decided to put a team together because we played last year and it was really fun" said Perkins. "Most of us have no idea what we're doing when we're out there but we all encourage one another when we do something good and laugh when we mess up."
It's not out of the ordinary to see athletes of other sports participating in different intramurals just primarily because they love to be active.
Yet, you still have students who used to play sports in high school but chose not to play in college or students who never played sports but play with their friends. Intramurals bring all sorts of students together.
The teams with the best record for the female division are On The Prowl at 12-0; X's who are also 12-0, and The Doctors who are 9-0.
The teams with the best record for the male division are Still Going at 12-0, and Dream Team who is also 12-0.
Still going also known as the Professors is sure favorite for the Championship place team this year for the male division and The Doctors for the female division.
Games are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in both John Glenn gymnasium and The Rec Center. The games start at 6o'clock and run until 10:45.
There are 22 female teams and 19 male teams that participate in intramural volleyball. Only eight teams make the playoffs and the Championship will be held on Sunday.
