Lady Muskies fall to Ohio Northern 69-55

The Lady Muskies fell to Ohio Northern, 69-55. With the loss, the Muskie's slide to 6-11 overall and 1-9 in conference play.

This game marked Muskingum's seventh loss in a row and they are still winless in the month of January.

The Muskies opened up their second half of conference play by introducing a new style of aggressive and up-tempo play.

The Muskies pressed the Polar Bears the entire game, which helped create 13 turnovers against them. Coach Beth Fox also implemented a new substitution rotation, where she switched four to five players in-and-out every few minutes.

The new brand of play couldn't slow down the Polar Bears though, who led at half time 33-23. The Muskies came out in the second frame determined to climb back. Using a 13-3 run in the opening minutes, the Lady Muskies tied the game. The Muskies couldn't keep up the pace though as Ohio Northern used 18-5 spurt over the next eight minutes of play to shut the Muskies down and seal the game away.

Ohio Northern improves to 14-3 overall on the year and now sit at second place in OAC standings with an 8-2 record. The Polar Bears were led by Morgan Dumbaugh, who had several clutch 3-point shots and finished the game with 16 points. Forward Kara Dysert finished with a double-double, 14 marks and 10 rebounds. Overall the Polar Bears shot .451 from the field (23-of-51).

The Muskies were led by senior forward Hannah Nelson, who finished with 14 points and nine boards. The Muskingum bench stepped up big as well benefitting off of the newly implemented rotation system, outscoring the Polar Bears bench 16-36.
