In an informal poll conducted by the Editorial Board, we have determined that autumn is by far the prettiest season at Muskingum University.

Leaves swirl on the quad like that scene in “American Beauty,” everyone is out taking their dogs on long walks and the scent of spiced apple cider is always wafting from kitchen windows.

Plus, this is the greatest wardrobe season since the layering look is so in right now.

This is the perfect season to take part in all the natural wonders of the surrounding area and hang out with friends.

An autumn at Muskingum is not complete without at least one harvest party, where everyone gets together, carves pumpkins, listens to folk music and sits around a fire.

Typical conversation usually includes what the best leaf pile everyone has ever jumped in and what everyone plans on dressing as for Halloween.

The New Concord reservoir is a quick jaunt down the road and a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Or, for a special treat, you can rake up all the leaves and jump in a huge pile.

If you don’t have a car, you should make friends with someone that does and take a drive to Salt Fork State Park. Go hiking on one of the many trails they have there while drinking from your thermos brimming full of apple cider that you got at a roadside stand.

As this is the prettiest season on campus, anyone that does not take place in at least three of the above activities will be deemed not a true Muskie and will not fall in place in the long Magenta line.

This editorial represents the consensus opinion of the the Black & Magenta Editorial Board.
