Spring break is usually a popular time for students to take vacations.
This can mean traveling to an exotic place far away or simply traveling to meet family members in another state. Whatever the case may be, spring break gives students a week-long opportunity to engage in any activity they may please.
Either way, most students utilize the time they are given off in order to have a great time.
“Every year for spring break I go on a road trip with all my friends from back home to Louisiana,” said junior Reid Bradford. “It’s become a tradition for us and we always end up having a great time.”
Road trips can be a popular vacation plan since they can be a nice getaway from staying in one spot and concentrating on school work. Other students choose to stay home for spring break.
“I’d rather just hang out with some of my old friends back home than to go anywhere special,” said sophomore John Beust. Some students have had fun just getting back in touch with the people they lost contact with. Spring break, among other breaks, allows students to not completely lose touch with some of their good friends from high school.
Simply seeing one’s family may also be a motivation to stay home for spring break, whether a family vacation is included or not. When students are at school for several months, it becomes stressful and some become homesick. This is more than enough reason for students to want to take a week’s vacation.
While students utilize the breaks for extravagant opportunities, other students make use of it by staying around campus for break. Part of the reason is because many Muskingum students live to far away, just to go home for a week.
Such is the case for junior Rafael Gould-Potoker, who prefers to stay at his house near campus for the break in order to just relax and get away from school work. “It’s much easier to just stick around school,” said Gould-Potoker. Gould-Potoker jokingly continues to say that his home was taken over by zombies, so it would be in his best interest to just stick around here at school.
Whatever the reason, zombies or no zombies, some students prefer the safe haven that Muskingum University provides. No matter what students plans are, spring break provides a time for them to recuperate and take a break from school. Spring break provides a useful bridge for students to prepare for the transition into the second half of the semester where they will be sure to continue their studies and further enhance their potential careers.
