Lisa Kasper and the tutors on staff at the Student Success Center are looking to return for another great school year. The Student Success Center is in its third year running and on track to improve on every attribute that it provides students throughout the school year. There are over 50 different courses that are provided with tutors that have already taken the class within a year or two.

Graduating from Ohio University with a major in Early Childhood Education Kasper began working with kids immediately. Kasper was hired here at Muskingum University several years ago when the university was looking for someone that had the prior experience to really connect with kids and help them in the classroom aspect of their college experience.

"The Success Center's number one goal is to improve on its retention of students," said Kasper

Just this past year Kasper received  more statistics from this past year helping to keep track of their improvement and also to help them improve on what seems to be the low points of the previous years.

It was proven that number of retention students that stayed in school was due to the seeking nature that they had to help their own grades if struggling in class. There were over 1000 visits to the Student Success Center last year and nearly 300 different student's total. The top five subjects tutored in the Success Center were math, chemistry, writing, psychology, and history.

Students' progression last year alone was outstanding for the Success Center.

"99% of students that made at least 3 visits to the Success Center increased their grade in the class by a full letter grade and with that passing their class," said Kasper.  Kasper went on to give statistics showing that 18% got A's, 34% B's, 33% C's, 14% D's, and only 1% with F's.

If students are looking for jobs to tutor in the Success Center, you can contact Lisa Kasper at lmkasper@muskingum.edu, or by phone at (740) 826-6154. If looking for the hours that the Success Center is open there will be flyers around the quad and in all residence halls on campus, or you can contact the Success Center directly at (740) 826-6156.
