Studying through your school career is a big step if you are planning on graduating and getting the things you want, and having the right studying strategies can aid in your success.
Finding the right place to study can help, but you can always have fun and be adventurous. Go out into your community and find an awkward place to study—it might help.
A quiet place is good for studying because you will be more focused on your work, but even an awkward place might turn out well.
Sophomore Evan Wiggal soon learned the advantage of studying in weird places.
The weirdest place that he found to study was on the top of his roof.
"I was locked out of my house on Dec. 12," said Wiggal.
He knew that he had a test the next day so he had to find a place to study and the roof just popped up in his mind.
"This is a stupid idea because its cold, but oh well ill try it," said Wiggal.
Although Wiggal was cold in the near-freezing weather, he blocked all of the physical feelings out of his mind and put his brain to work.
"I started studying the words in front of me, that way I could just ignore the chills," said Wiggal.
This study spot actually got him an A on the exam that he took. Realizing what happened he studied on the roof more often.
"I decided that maybe I should make this a ritual thing," said Wiggal.
It's amazing how performance can improve on test and exams just by the study environment.
Students mostly study in their dorm rooms, library or the Chess Center, but there are plenty of other spots where you can get your work done.
Studying by the lake, in the woods, in the gym or even by the pool are all weird but you never know how quiet it could really be.
Students actually do better when they are in a quiet environment rather than a noisy one.
Distractions can always catch their eye.
"Go outside your comfort zone and try something different," said Wiggal.
It may be to your benefit to try new things in your college career.
New strategies will help you to become a better student and although the awkward places may not always be available to you, take every chance that you have to use them. That's what they are here for, student use!
So for all the students that have a weird place that they've studied and don't want to tell anyone, trust me, everyone has at least studied in one awkward place in their lives.
