Under the direction of Head Coach Elizabeth Zicha, the Muskingum University volleyball team returns a core of veteran players that are set to make a run in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Muskies bring back seven starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's squad. The experience brought by the returnees will give Muskingum a versatile and deep squad. A pair of seniors, McKensie Smith and Molly Scholl, will lead the team in the 2011 season.

A right-side hitter, Smith, comes back to the squad after an All-OAC campaign in 2010. The all-conference selection led the Black and Magenta in kills (220), while finishing second in assists (360) and total blocks (29). Smith was third on the team with 242 digs. For her career, Smith has notched 498 kills and 435 digs.

Scholl , a three-year letterwinner, will direct the Muskingum offense from the setter position. An Academic All-OAC selection, Scholl led the Muskies with 489 assists last season. She will enter her final year with 1,043 career assists, which ranks eighth all-time at Muskingum. Scholl is just 115 assists shy of seventh place.

Joining Smith and Scholl on the offensive end are junior outside hitter Lauren Tullis and sophomore outside hitter Hanna Rose. Junior middle hitter Sarah Krauss, junior outside hitter Mindy McDorman, junior Megan Grywalski and junior middle hitter Katie Sidwell will also play a vital role in the offense.

Defensively, the Muskies are led by sophomore libero Kim Seitter. Seitter, who was honored with the William F. Lange Outstanding Freshman Female Athlete Award, led the team with 591 digs. The 591 digs ranked sixth all-time for a single season at Muskingum.

With the addition of a solid recruiting class, the Muskingum volleyball team will enter the season with high expectations of a successful campaign.
