On Wednesday Jan. 25, WMCO will begin the events for its fifth annual WMCO Weekend.

WMCO weekend, an annual event put on every spring semester by WMCO, is a chance for students to participate in events while raising money and goods for charities.

"We have five exciting events this year," said WMCO Underwriting Director Katie Simms. "Many of these events are new and involve the local community as well as students. It is all for a good cause."

WMCO Weekend will kick off with the WMCO and Orbit TV 9 Half-time Challenge on Wednesday Jan. 25 during half time of the Men's Muskingum vs. Marietta game.

People have a chance to win a gift card if they donate a dollar and successfully shoot a three pointer. Also a 50/50 raffle will be taking place during the game.

The festivities will continue the next night from 9-11 p.m. at Kelley Coffee House where the Guys and Dolls Date Auction will be held.

Students will have the opportunity to bid on their friends for a date night. Potential dates are from various social groups and sports teams.

The Singing Fish will take the stage on Friday, where a local band will perform and students will have the opportunity to get up on stage and sing along with them.

On Saturday WMCO will be holding the What's Cooking? Chili Cook-off, a chance for local residents to show off their homemade chili recipes at the New Concord United Methodist Church from 4-6 p.m.

Contestants will have the opportunity to have people taste and vote on all the homemade specialties

The Orbit TV 9 game show Blank It In is coming to life on Saturday.

Students can play the game just like they would on TV. Those who participate have the opportunity to win prizes.

WMCO asks that all students and community members who attend any event bring a non-perishable food or monetary donation. All proceeds from all the WMCO Weekend events will benefit the Muskingum County Animal Shelter and American Red Cross.
